Parks & Recreation

You will find many wonderful parks to choose from in Central Fairfield including: Veterans Memorial Park, Dover Park, Lee Bell Park, Allen Witt Park with the popular Aquatics Complex, City Hall & Civic Center Park, Hayes & Utah Street Tot Lot, Hillview Neighborhood Park, Kentucky Street Tot Lot, Linear Park Playground at 2nd Street, Linear Park Playground at 5th Street, Meadow Glen Neighborhood Park, Sunrise Neighborhood Park, Tabor Neighborhood Park and Tolenas Neighborhood Park. The majority of residents are English speaking, with the next commonly spoken language being Spanish. The workforce is primarily made up of blue collar jobs, with roughly 35% of the force being white collar positions.

The average yearly temperature is a pleasant 73 degrees F and is the ideal location for outdoor adventures of all kinds. The high temperature in July is 90 degrees F and the low in January is around 39 degrees F. Sperling's comfort index for Fairfield is an 83 out of 100. Attractions and Commerce

Central Fairfield has the highest level of retail sales in Solano County, due in large part to the Solano Town Center. There are also plenty of thriving independent business throughout downtown Fairfield with unique shopping and events available. There is no shortage of restaurants in the city with everything from delicious steakhouses to traditional Italian, and all cuisines in between. Also, right on the south side of Highway 12 in Old Cordelia don’t forget to stop by the world-famous Jelly Belly factory to satisfy your sweet tooth! There are also a multitude of local annual events all year-long. From the Brews and Bites tour at the renowned Anheuser-Busch Brewery (conveniently located right in Fairfield) to the annual tree lighting, this city loves to come together to celebrate.

At the Eastern end of Central Fairfield is where the Fairfield/Vacaville Train Station is located.

Central Fairfield is where the greater number of community resources are located. City Hall and the Civic Center,  City of Fairfield Police, City of Fairfield Fire Department, Solano Superior and Criminal Courthouses, Solano County Human Resources and the Solano County Library.

Health Care

There are many choices when it comes to Health Care in Central Fairfield. North Bay Medical Center, North Bay Specialty Clinic, North Bay Center for Womens Health, Hematology/Oncology Sutter Fairfield Medical Campus,  Urgent Care: Sutter Health, Sutter Fairfield Surgery Center, Sutter Imaging Fairfield, Solano County Family Health Services and the  Fairfield Health Center.

Military

Central Fairfield is home to the Travis Air Force Base, which is under the operational control of the Air Mobility Command. It is located just 3 miles east of the main business district in Fairfield. The 60th Air Mobility Wing is the largest wing in the Air Force’s AMC command, and is the host unit at Travis AFB. Travis AFB handles more cargo and passengers through its airport than any other military terminal in the nation. The base has had a major impact on the Fairfield community, as many military families and veterans have chosen to make the city their permanent home. It is also the largest employer in the entire county and greatly helps the area’s overall economic stability.

Education

There are numerous schools located throughout Central Fairfield for children to attend. Central Fairfield is served by Fairfield-Suisun Unified School DistrictFairfield-Suisun Unified School District has an enrollment of over 23,000 in 28 schools. There are also parochial schools, pre-schools, and day care centers in the area. Over 30 colleges and universities within the Bay Area and Central Valley are within easy commuting distance from Fairfield.
